Sean Paul - Press It Up [vid]

2nd single lifted from Imperial Blaze

Loving the video! Sean Paul really can't dance though lol. First he botched Willy Bounce in We Be Burnin' now Gully Creepa

So even after the failure of So Fine, they've gone for the same formula of fast-and-frantic Stephen riddim. Well it's better than So Fine but still not there for me. What makes it worse is the riddims I have heard Stephen release recently are a gazillion times better than these 2singles; namely Set Me Free, Trippple Bounce and Fitness. That's not even counting the singles he has done, especially what he has done for Laden and Chino (click for interview I conducted with them) in particular. Hopefully the track with Keri Hilson (who seems to be on everything at the mo) Hold My Hand is released. Think it's a Don Carleon riddim, closest thing to roots on there so may be a 3rd/4th vibe.

Are they trying to fit in with the euro-dance/pop stage we are at with Lady Gaga and them? Like whats really good? Can you tell I'm pissed? It's because I am. Sean Paul is the torch bearer of dancehall music to the mainstream yet he is releasing bs like this. Beenie Man failed numerous times at breaking the commercial world with these sell-out moves, as did Elephant Man with that stupid Five-0 with Wyclef. You probably don't even remember the tune/attempt it was that lame.

Message to those A&R'n dancehall projects in future: USE AUTHENTIC DANCEHALL RIDDIM TRACKS. Only one who made anything was Shaggy, yet even when he strayed by releasing It Wasn't Me, it wasn't all the way crossover - there was a predominant bassline - and ultimately it was a bloody good song! His prior successes Boombastic (can't remember the name of the riddim but Merciless "Gal ah fly all di way from Paris..." Mavis?) and Oh Carolina were both reggae

Beenie's biggest hits to this day are still Who Am I (ironically on Sean Paul's managers riddim - Jeremy Harding's Playground) and Dude (on the Dave Kelly produced Fiesta). Elephant Man's biggest hits are Jook Gal (Skatta's Coolie Dance) and Pon Di River (think it was Stone Love produced but Daseca built). Ghetto Story by Cham was Dave Kelly's 85, Damian Marley's Welcome To Jamrock was Ini Kamozi's World A Music...

Moral of the story: USE AUTHENTIC DANCEHALL RIDDIMS (now where have you seen that before)

  2. His earlier stuff souded lot better. The thing is though people in Jamaica don't really rate him. I think it has a lot to do with his sound (far too mainstream) and the fact that he didn't grow up working class / dirt poor. The majority just can't relate to him.

I also think he tries too hard to come across as if he was born and raised in one of the Garrisons.

Marvin Sparks x Raekwon interview

Wu-Tang's in-house "Chef" better known as Raekwon proved he is still a force to be mentioned alongside the hottest rappers in the hip hop game with the release of Only Built For Cuban Linx... pt. II - sequel to his 1995 debut album. Marvin Sparks caught up with the hip hop legend to discuss rapping for drug dealers, people caring "more about stats than raps", his inclusion in MTV's Top 10 Hottest Rappers list, and converting to Islam. Marvin Sparks: It has been almost fifteen years since the first Only Built For Cuban Linx, an album that was a 5-mic classic when The Source magazine held weight. Why did you decide make a sequel?

Why Cheetah Woods, whhyyyy?!?!?!

We must all know about the predator nyamin woman (no bowcat reference intended - or am I lying? *shudders*). Anyone heard the voicemail he left for the girl he's been PARrin (there was a golf reference there) his wife with? Easy now my selekta as we rinse some tunes for di one name Tiger. Man like him doesn't know how to play. (By The Endz not Ruff Sqwad) How you gonna leave a voicemail for a girl with your real name at the beginning? Do you want to be held to ransom? Man from 'the ends' know (in the words of Kano) "That's slippin'!" And when isht hits the fan (like it has) he's buggered. Not something I deal in but surely the point of cheating is for an assortment of ladies. All his ones look the same; blonde, no breast nor batty. Remember When Riddims Were King

Before you read, thank you for your interest and hope you enjoy. I actually fleshed it out into a book. You can get your copy from www.nolongstories.com   Now for what you came here for... When Riddims Were King 23rd May 2020 will be remembered in history for one of the most epic events in one of our universe's darkest times. We will never forget the night dancehall kings and former extremely heated rivals, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, battled on the Verzuz platform built by hall-of-fame producers, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. An unfiltered, 360-degree view on Jamaican dancehall events was showcased; DJ’s and dancing (Beenie Man’s daughter Desha Ravers) to deejay’s clashing on the same riddims. The latter elements provided the jewels in the night’s highlight reel, and undoubtedly the best thing to happen on the Verzuz series. Word spread like guava jelly within the dancehall community and Jamaican diaspora upon announcement. Not only was it a clash between the longest and fier
