October = Black History Month

But today is the beginning of Black History Month! Don't worry normal service will be here - at the end of the day it is just ANY month - but some things (not many mind you) will contain the theme.

Today on Twitter (@MarvinSparks), I was suggesting we signify the first day of Black History month by burning a popular black character or charecteristic we all hate. It would serve as an occasion to help unite and burn the crosses, badmind and unscrupulous people (making this up now, but it sounds like a good pitch alie?)! I suggested Gus from EastEnders. Exhibit A: Is he (not the real guy Mo George) not the worst person in the world? He epitomised wasteman in every sense! Was a binman and some simp in his love life (please note I haven't watched EastEnders properly since Dirty Den returned). Ang about, wasn't he banging Ricky's sister? Didn't she cheat on him at one point? From the scriptwriters let that happen to you, this character is not the one. None of this: "At least he's not doing crime or signing on" because I'm talking specifically Gus. Mo George will call him Gus as well - you know how these actors speak in 3rd person. Used to confuse the hell out me as a yout'.

Coincidentally whilst browsing Twitter I found two other examples of wasteman antics:

Exhibit B: RT @VVBrown the dustbin man from eastenders fucking touched my butt under my skirt wat a fuckin ungentlemanly mother fucka !!!

Exhibit C: RT @BennyScarrs Gus frm Eastender is here showing every1 that u can't buy style. Louis Glasses+ Gucci Pumps+ Gus = NOT WORKIING

Now was that Gus or Mo George? Maybe it was like Jim Carey in the Mask or Shurman Klump/Buddy Love type scenario. Both refer to him as Gus so we'll say it was Gus. That works in court for me.

However, the last post changed my mind. (Where the continuation begins) I don't really like to complain without suggesting a way to improve. An example of a credible sounding, well-written song which could have been attached to charity or concert for anti-gun crime is this.

Came out at a time when shootings were rife (I'm not using the b-on-b term because that's some babylon phrase that oppresses - crime is crime) in certain areas amongst gorups of young people. Wasn't a blatant "Put the guns down... don't want to see mum's crying" type song, rather chose to promote black culture and instill some belief in the lost young ones. Wasn't racist or anything, [he addressed it in my interview with him here]

You may be thinking "Why ain't you using the b-on-b term but suggesting a song about black boys? A bit hypocritical isn't it?" and that's a good question. My answer is: motives for crime have no colour (unless it's racist). If the stats aren't worked out in some political way, results are black people do it more frequently in London. But I repeat, they are not done because of colour. It's mainly economic and social issues if you ask me with other stuff thrown in but that's all long and political.

2nd problem is we don't label every crime prevalent in X race on it's own race as X on X crime. Let's be all the way real, we don't call "honour killings" Asian-on-Asian crimes do we? No and rightly so. Only a minority of Asians agree with "honour killings", a smaller minority partake in it, but none of them doing because they are Asian!!! I could use other examples but people could call me racist. I'm safe with "honour killings", because I and most people only know that to happen in the Asian community. That's not racist, so don't get offended.

So instead of bunnin' the wasteman Gus from EastEnders (yet), BUN OUT BLACK-ON-BLACK CRIME TERM!!!

Marvin Sparks x Raekwon interview

Wu-Tang's in-house "Chef" better known as Raekwon proved he is still a force to be mentioned alongside the hottest rappers in the hip hop game with the release of Only Built For Cuban Linx... pt. II - sequel to his 1995 debut album. Marvin Sparks caught up with the hip hop legend to discuss rapping for drug dealers, people caring "more about stats than raps", his inclusion in MTV's Top 10 Hottest Rappers list, and converting to Islam. Marvin Sparks: It has been almost fifteen years since the first Only Built For Cuban Linx, an album that was a 5-mic classic when The Source magazine held weight. Why did you decide make a sequel?

Why Cheetah Woods, whhyyyy?!?!?!

We must all know about the predator nyamin woman (no bowcat reference intended - or am I lying? *shudders*). Anyone heard the voicemail he left for the girl he's been PARrin (there was a golf reference there) his wife with? Easy now my selekta as we rinse some tunes for di one name Tiger. Man like him doesn't know how to play. (By The Endz not Ruff Sqwad) How you gonna leave a voicemail for a girl with your real name at the beginning? Do you want to be held to ransom? Man from 'the ends' know (in the words of Kano) "That's slippin'!" And when isht hits the fan (like it has) he's buggered. Not something I deal in but surely the point of cheating is for an assortment of ladies. All his ones look the same; blonde, no breast nor batty. Remember When Riddims Were King

Before you read, thank you for your interest and hope you enjoy. I actually fleshed it out into a book. You can get your copy from www.nolongstories.com   Now for what you came here for... When Riddims Were King 23rd May 2020 will be remembered in history for one of the most epic events in one of our universe's darkest times. We will never forget the night dancehall kings and former extremely heated rivals, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, battled on the Verzuz platform built by hall-of-fame producers, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. An unfiltered, 360-degree view on Jamaican dancehall events was showcased; DJ’s and dancing (Beenie Man’s daughter Desha Ravers) to deejay’s clashing on the same riddims. The latter elements provided the jewels in the night’s highlight reel, and undoubtedly the best thing to happen on the Verzuz series. Word spread like guava jelly within the dancehall community and Jamaican diaspora upon announcement. Not only was it a clash between the longest and fier
