Choosy Tuesday

We speak in slang like THIS!

This song has come around at the right time. I speak slang and I'm flippin proud of it. Gonna play this song out loud on repeat blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

Why do they always have to make people breakdance in dancing scenes? Can't they have man gunfinger skankin'? Hoods up, caps down, couple dogs, A9 tracksuits... ring any bells? Yeah, good old Channel U days.

I never wrote about it at the time so I'm touching on it now. This Lindsey Johns dude that linked slang to gang needs to find the M25 and play chicken with the cars for an hour in the rain (disclaimer: that isn't me hoping you die, I'm suggesting you find something better to do with your time. I hear car dodging is popular amongst thrill-seekers). And why do people go on like black people brought slang to London like Cockney hasn't been around for... like... ever? Swear Shakespeare didn't write correctly. And slang is just a way to express yourself. Look how many slang words have become standard English. Stop hatin', start appreciating.

"It's a good job Emma didn't live in the late 16th Century/ early 17th Century. There was a guy running around back then who didnt use language as his peers did, he made up words, changed the structure of how he used these new made up words and flouted the conventional thinking on most aspects of English. He was called William Shakespeare... Language is not a set of rules, its a way of communication. The one constant thing with a thriving language is change."

According to Martin , Guildford [source]

I would think he was playing devil's advocate because the quotes don't support his argument and it's a good way to engage, but his other articles prove otherwise, this "Shadeism" one in particular.

p.s. Sukh Knight is a don!

Random Tune of the Day/ Real Badman Never Afraid: Rod Stewart 'Do Ya Think I'm Sexy'

Real Badman Never Afraid = I'm a badman so I can tell you I like this song.

Roddy went in with this. The string section goes hard! And he croons all over it. Classic.

New Video: Jesie J 'Do It Like A Dude'

Still not hunnid percent sold on the song. Think with alterating the lyrics a bit it will work better in America. Video is impressive though

Kandi speaks on writing No Scrubs and Bills, Bills, Bills

Jacked from PinBoard. Regulars may recall me blogging about Kandi's songwriting the other day.

I raised a question: "Just thinking without Kandi, would Beyoncé have been female-empowerment, independent woman Beyoncé? I've never listened to Destiny's Child's debut album in its entirety, so I couldn't tell you the theme of it. Going by the singles on it and The Writings On The Wall (stone cold classic), there was a difference. Kandi wrote No Scrubs, then DC got involved?"

Don't get all vex because I'm questioning Queen B, I'm just asking.

Anyway, here is Kandi

My 5 year old son is gay

A mother wrote a blog after her son decided to dress up for Hallowe'en as...

I saw this being debated on the news this morning. I actually haven't got an opinion on this. Not as opinionated as you may have thought. Music, yeah. Youth culture, to a certain extent. Politics and (most) things political? Drop me out.

Check out the concerned mummy blogger's account of that day here. If you anonymous one wanna leave a comment about this, please feel free.

Finally, this is one cool baby

Baby Bob Marley

Jacked from @DivaNikkiZ As I stood amongst thousands of people from different walks of life awaiting the arrival of reggae singer Tarrus Riley at o2's Your Country event I tweeted "Reggae is the original unite the raver music" whilst joining in with everyone saluting big tune after big tune by David Rodigan (why hasn't he been knighted?). Should have said "Unite the skanker" for the Rudeboys and Skinheads that both rocked out to the same music back in the 80s.

Anyway, check what reggae does to the baby

Sick! I'm using that

Comments

Marvin Sparks x Raekwon interview

Wu-Tang's in-house "Chef" better known as Raekwon proved he is still a force to be mentioned alongside the hottest rappers in the hip hop game with the release of Only Built For Cuban Linx... pt. II - sequel to his 1995 debut album. Marvin Sparks caught up with the hip hop legend to discuss rapping for drug dealers, people caring "more about stats than raps", his inclusion in MTV's Top 10 Hottest Rappers list, and converting to Islam. Marvin Sparks: It has been almost fifteen years since the first Only Built For Cuban Linx, an album that was a 5-mic classic when The Source magazine held weight. Why did you decide make a sequel?

Why Cheetah Woods, whhyyyy?!?!?!

We must all know about the predator nyamin woman (no bowcat reference intended - or am I lying? *shudders*). Anyone heard the voicemail he left for the girl he's been PARrin (there was a golf reference there) his wife with? Easy now my selekta as we rinse some tunes for di one name Tiger. Man like him doesn't know how to play. (By The Endz not Ruff Sqwad) How you gonna leave a voicemail for a girl with your real name at the beginning? Do you want to be held to ransom? Man from 'the ends' know (in the words of Kano) "That's slippin'!" And when isht hits the fan (like it has) he's buggered. Not something I deal in but surely the point of cheating is for an assortment of ladies. All his ones look the same; blonde, no breast nor batty. Rachel Uchitel bawlin at the scene of 9/11 where her man (fiancee/boyfriend/husband) died The chick whose sold his voicemail on and can be heard above The wifey (why cheat on her with the ones above I'll never kno

Remember When Riddims Were King

Before you read, thank you for your interest and hope you enjoy. I actually fleshed it out into a book. You can get your copy from www.nolongstories.com   Now for what you came here for... When Riddims Were King 23rd May 2020 will be remembered in history for one of the most epic events in one of our universe's darkest times. We will never forget the night dancehall kings and former extremely heated rivals, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, battled on the Verzuz platform built by hall-of-fame producers, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. An unfiltered, 360-degree view on Jamaican dancehall events was showcased; DJ’s and dancing (Beenie Man’s daughter Desha Ravers) to deejay’s clashing on the same riddims. The latter elements provided the jewels in the night’s highlight reel, and undoubtedly the best thing to happen on the Verzuz series. Word spread like guava jelly within the dancehall community and Jamaican diaspora upon announcement. Not only was it a clash between the longest and fier
