Hulk Hogan raps Biggie's 'Juicy'

Jacked from RWDMag. Such a shame that hip hop has become a parody of itself with the whole materialism and over-sexualised images (big words :D ). Anyway, WWF superstar Hulk Hogan (I preferred Ultimate Warrior if I'm honest) Def Jam Rapstar's Notorious BIG's all-time sing-along Juicy.

Brooke Hogan doesn't sound bad actually. I remember Scott Storch signed her and she failed but she sounds aaaalright. I can not be the only one waiting to see what he'd say at the "And if you don't know now you know [blankety blank]."

Jessie J 'Who You Are'

Jessie J is an incredible talent. Pitch-perfect, powerful vocals coupled with songwriting talent good enough for high profile (Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus) US acts sure to win. She just dropped the link for her debut US single 'Who You Are'.

For the full track in high quality, listen up

Tune goes extremely hard!!! Would be an exceptional second single. Repeat treatment

Check out a live performance she did in LA think yesterday. This is a song written for Alicia Keys, but she rejected it.

Ricky Blaze 'Just You and I'

Featured this song back in the day. Producer of the Hold You riddim, 22 year-old Ricky Blaze voices the riddim to make another top quality tune. Whether it'll borrow some of the thunder, I dunno. Video dropped on the weekend. Girl is hot, not feeling the re-vocal though

You can catch this song on my mix here. An example of a quality song you don't hear on a popular riddim.

Real Badman Never Afraid: Pulp 'Common People'

This came to mind through conversation. Saw the dude from Suede on BBC Brekkie this morning talking about a comeback. Remember their tune Animal Nitrate which then reminded me of this banger. Jarvis Cocker's a prick for dropping his pants at Michael Jackson though. Who the hell does he think he is? Tune went ard doe

Kanye West vs. George Bush roouunndd 2, ding ding!

So 'Ye and Dubya been going back and forth sending for each other in interviews.

In a soon-to-be-televised interview Bush responds to that infamous moment when Louis Vuitton Don called out Bushman for not caring about black people in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina:

"It was one of the most disgusting moments in my Presidency. He called me a racist. I didn’t appreciate it then. I don’t appreciate it now. It’s one thing to say, ‘I don’t appreciate the way he’s handled his business.’ It’s another thing to say, ‘This man’s a racist.’ I resent it, it’s not true."

So is it right up there with 9/11, failure and embarrassment over the Iraq war, killing off how many people's sons and daughters in the war, Hurricane Katrina itself?

KanYe (or Konyay as Tim Westwood STILL calls him) hit back in typical Kanye fashion (no not metrosexual clothing, you know what I meant):

"Well I can definitely understand the way he feels to be accused of being a racist in any way because the same thing happened to me [with Taylor Swift], you know, where I got accused of being racist, and with both situations it was basically a lack of compassion that America saw,” Yeezy offered, “With him it was a lack of compassion not rushing, you know, taking his time to rush down to New Orleans. With me, it was a lack of compassion in cutting someone off in their moment, but none the less I feel we’re all quick to pull the race card [in America]. And now I’m more open, and the poetic justice that I feel to go through the same thing that he went [through], and now I really more connect with him on a humanitarian level … the next morning when he felt that, I felt the same thing."

Because the two examples are the similar aren't they?

Soul Culture meets Jay-Z

This is sick!!!

Following lyric-based clues and virtual map navigation on bing.decodejay-z.com, launched that day to promote the book, Versetti found the first two pages of the book ‘hidden’ in full public view at locations around New York; specifically, in a Chelsea art gallery and on the side of a building at Lafayette and Bleecker St [freaking out their tech team in the process; they didn't anticipate nerdy tag-teams...].

PinBoard make a film

They are so sick! Ang tight Shan yeah. Bawse!

"G.R.E.Ed.S is, without question, one of the most exciting spoken word artists in the UK right now – pushing every boundary possible, when asked if we would be able to work with him on his debut video – we didn’t hesitate. And here it is.

‘What It Means’ is a deeply personal and passionate piece written by G.R.E.Ed.S; In it he discusses ‘what it means’ to be Black. Eloquently and emotionally speaking on his experiences, his ideas and his opinions. Our aim was to emphasis the power of the piece to bring it alive and so set about creating something beautiful and symbolic."

Feel this probably would have impacted more had it been released during Black Histroy Month though.

Big tune: Addictive 'Bad Girl'

I never had this format back in the day nor did I remember to blog it, but I came across this on a random day watching MTV Base. Tune goes 'ard. Good example of mersh UK funk I can get down with.

Quote of the Day: Talib Kweli "Goonish rap for the sake of being goonish just comes off real cartoonish"

The video says where I jacked it from Soul Culture duh. That quote is 100% real talk. Nuff man over compensate for who they really are with fictitious bars . Not inna dat I'm afraid.

p.s. One of very few sites where you know you will get a great interview before pressing play. Check 'em out Soul Culture. And if you never voted for them to win Soul Train award, put them in your prayers.

So Lil Wayne is free!!!

Yup, so them say. I don't actually care to be honest with you. It isn't like hoping for a return to credible New York gangsta like when Shyne was released, or wanting to hear whether Prodigy from Mobb Deep has gone back to the 90s, pre-Jay-Z demolition job P or DMX back to the gritty days of It's Dark and Hell Is Hot/Flesh of my Flesh... it's Lil Wayne. He has only been gone for 8 months yet, he never actually disappeared. Every Girl and Bedrock were on constant rotation, Drop The World with Eminem was about, the new song with Em from the recently released EP dropped. All that's changed is he wasn't on All I Do is Win or any of Kanye's tracks featuring a quarter of his phone book.

As I tweeted the other day: "F**K Lil Wayne! F**K TI! Free Ninja Man!" Both the rappers were found guilty. They need to "Free Buju!" too.

Finally we end on...

Throwback Tune of the Day: Mariah Carey featuring ODB 'Fantasy (remix)'

Want to know the link between this and the Lil Wayne story above which resulted in this selection? Mariah Carey: "What you gonna do when you get outta jail" ODB: "I'm gonna do a remix!" We know Lil Wayne will be fully on that.

Yooooo Neeewwwww Yooorrrrkk in tha house!

Marvin Sparks x Raekwon interview

Wu-Tang's in-house "Chef" better known as Raekwon proved he is still a force to be mentioned alongside the hottest rappers in the hip hop game with the release of Only Built For Cuban Linx... pt. II - sequel to his 1995 debut album. Marvin Sparks caught up with the hip hop legend to discuss rapping for drug dealers, people caring "more about stats than raps", his inclusion in MTV's Top 10 Hottest Rappers list, and converting to Islam. Marvin Sparks: It has been almost fifteen years since the first Only Built For Cuban Linx, an album that was a 5-mic classic when The Source magazine held weight. Why did you decide make a sequel?

Why Cheetah Woods, whhyyyy?!?!?!

We must all know about the predator nyamin woman (no bowcat reference intended - or am I lying? *shudders*). Anyone heard the voicemail he left for the girl he's been PARrin (there was a golf reference there) his wife with? Easy now my selekta as we rinse some tunes for di one name Tiger. Man like him doesn't know how to play. (By The Endz not Ruff Sqwad) How you gonna leave a voicemail for a girl with your real name at the beginning? Do you want to be held to ransom? Man from 'the ends' know (in the words of Kano) "That's slippin'!" And when isht hits the fan (like it has) he's buggered. Not something I deal in but surely the point of cheating is for an assortment of ladies. All his ones look the same; blonde, no breast nor batty. Remember When Riddims Were King

Before you read, thank you for your interest and hope you enjoy. I actually fleshed it out into a book. You can get your copy from www.nolongstories.com   Now for what you came here for... When Riddims Were King 23rd May 2020 will be remembered in history for one of the most epic events in one of our universe's darkest times. We will never forget the night dancehall kings and former extremely heated rivals, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, battled on the Verzuz platform built by hall-of-fame producers, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. An unfiltered, 360-degree view on Jamaican dancehall events was showcased; DJ’s and dancing (Beenie Man’s daughter Desha Ravers) to deejay’s clashing on the same riddims. The latter elements provided the jewels in the night’s highlight reel, and undoubtedly the best thing to happen on the Verzuz series. Word spread like guava jelly within the dancehall community and Jamaican diaspora upon announcement. Not only was it a clash between the longest and fier
