We's baaaack

Dunno how long for but I've got the time to blog and actually source things today.

So first off,

Happy belated Birthday to the greatest artist in the history of music, Bob Marley. Inspired by Soul Culture

It was his 66th on Sunday. He still lives on so I won't speak of him in past tense. Basically, if your name isn't Elvis or Michael Jackson, you can not enter the debate as to who is the greatest of all time in my opinion. Not only is Bob a musical icon, he brought a whole genre and a religious movement to the world. We have Rastamouse on Cbeebies because of Bob Marley. It's that real.

The Playing for Change foundation and band released this cover of Redemption Song which features impressive vocals from Bob's son Stephen and the great man himself in form of footage from his final tour.

"Emancipate yourself from mental slavery/ None but ourselves can free our mind" has to be one of my favourite lyrics of all time.

Chipmunk currently sitting at number 1

Jacked from RWD. Christopher Brown and Chipmunk are sitting comfortably at number 1 in the midweeks knocking off Jessie J's Price Tag momentarily. So Chipmunk looks to be the only guy to beat the sophomore curse at the moment (Tinchy failed, Tinie hasn't had the chance to repeat yet). Really and truly it shows he had confidence in himself for a reason.

Here he is performing with Loick Essien on daytime TV show, This Morning. The show for mum's and JSA claimers (unemployed)

Unlucky on messing up Loick but don't worry about it pal. It must be a change from singing your own song, ay?

Anyway check this interesting Chipmunk interview by Amaru Don. He definitely understands the music game and instead of bawling when it goes tits up, he's implementing it

New Wretch is a teyoon

I think this is the song I got told about the week of Traktor's release. If it is, it's a quality song. Not sure if it's single material to be honest but a solid album track, definitely. "Not sure" = it may work but I have no idea. I think this has more a favourite track off the album type track or a third/fourth single vibe. I'm properly feeling it though.

Wretch on a soulful vibe talking about his girl.

Real Badman Never Afraid: Eagle Eye Cherry 'Save Tonight'

If you don't rate this banger we can't be friends. I think this is from '95/'96. Reminds me of good times I'd play knock down ginger, Championship Manager or ride my push bike to the local park with friends. I'm sure it was a summertime as well. Turkey burger with two slices of bread is all I survived on them times. Well you can tell it's old, MTV are showing videos.

The video is sick too. He does an Eddie Murphy a.k.a. "let me be everyone"

Throwback Tune of the Day: Sisqo 'Got To Get It'

Remember when Sisqo was the man? Times when youths were spraying their hair gold like how you get bald dudes growing a beard to match Rick Ross. So much so we let this little puny, platinum haired dude get away with singing "What these bit*hes want from a ni*ga". Yeah, I can't believe it in hindsight either. Big tune though.

Sisqo had bangers, and had the quintessential 90s r&b crooner characteristics. Short, stressed vocals, a lot of bending knees and head nodding when holding long words. Let's not forget the elongated or constant repetition of "Yeahhhhhh" that he borrowed from K-Ci. And he pimped the Chinese culture, Martial Arts-inspired moves harrrrd!

Incomplete was every girl and moist man's tuuuuuuuuuune, Thong Song was for everyone, but Got To Get It isn't as bait and was a tune too. Hold tight the discount price DMX on the feature better known as Make It Hot. And that he certainly didn't do. Who the hell was he? He was the engineer with voice distortion innit? Never heard of him before or from him since.

Marvin Sparks x Raekwon interview

Wu-Tang's in-house "Chef" better known as Raekwon proved he is still a force to be mentioned alongside the hottest rappers in the hip hop game with the release of Only Built For Cuban Linx... pt. II - sequel to his 1995 debut album. Marvin Sparks caught up with the hip hop legend to discuss rapping for drug dealers, people caring "more about stats than raps", his inclusion in MTV's Top 10 Hottest Rappers list, and converting to Islam. Marvin Sparks: It has been almost fifteen years since the first Only Built For Cuban Linx, an album that was a 5-mic classic when The Source magazine held weight. Why did you decide make a sequel?

Why Cheetah Woods, whhyyyy?!?!?!

We must all know about the predator nyamin woman (no bowcat reference intended - or am I lying? *shudders*). Anyone heard the voicemail he left for the girl he's been PARrin (there was a golf reference there) his wife with? Easy now my selekta as we rinse some tunes for di one name Tiger. Man like him doesn't know how to play. (By The Endz not Ruff Sqwad) How you gonna leave a voicemail for a girl with your real name at the beginning? Do you want to be held to ransom? Man from 'the ends' know (in the words of Kano) "That's slippin'!" And when isht hits the fan (like it has) he's buggered. Not something I deal in but surely the point of cheating is for an assortment of ladies. All his ones look the same; blonde, no breast nor batty. Rachel Uchitel bawlin at the scene of 9/11 where her man (fiancee/boyfriend/husband) died The chick whose sold his voicemail on and can be heard above The wifey (why cheat on her with the ones above I'll never kno

Remember When Riddims Were King

Before you read, thank you for your interest and hope you enjoy. I actually fleshed it out into a book. You can get your copy from www.nolongstories.com   Now for what you came here for... When Riddims Were King 23rd May 2020 will be remembered in history for one of the most epic events in one of our universe's darkest times. We will never forget the night dancehall kings and former extremely heated rivals, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, battled on the Verzuz platform built by hall-of-fame producers, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. An unfiltered, 360-degree view on Jamaican dancehall events was showcased; DJ’s and dancing (Beenie Man’s daughter Desha Ravers) to deejay’s clashing on the same riddims. The latter elements provided the jewels in the night’s highlight reel, and undoubtedly the best thing to happen on the Verzuz series. Word spread like guava jelly within the dancehall community and Jamaican diaspora upon announcement. Not only was it a clash between the longest and fier
